All the best of the season and may your New Year be filled with more poetry, art, inspiration, beauty, and wealth in all forms.

At http://marnezine.blogspot.com/ you can find my new blog (whose header or masthead you can see above), which is intended to be an ezine. It is called poets’picturebook, with the blog description, “the Ezine for poems & pictures that deserve each other.”

When you have time, please browse its three (3) Test Issues, featuring poems by Marjorie Evasco, Joel Toledo and myself, with accompanying pictures by Filipino photographer Claro Cortes and artist Rod Samonte, and from the Masters. These three initial web pages give you an idea what the ezine is all about, how you may participate/contribute in it, it being an online literary and art publication or electronic magazine. Its fourth, now "official," issue was posted today, Christmas Day, and is an advertisment for contributions similar to this.

The blog-ezine has three columns, with the middle column containing the two main sections: 1) the “frontispiece,” the issue’s featured photograph or image of an artwork, and 2) “picturepoem,” the featured poem/s with a few notes, appreciation, postscript by myself acting as editor and resident “critic.” The two minor columns on either side of the page features new books, announcements, links, widgets, and even ads.

poets’picturebook is accepting contributions in the following manner:

What you can send

1) You can submit a poem alone and I can find a picture to accompany it.

2) You can submit a poem & a picture (digital file of a painting, sculpture, dance), the poem being based on, derived from, or inspired by the picture that you send together with the poem. That poem is called an ekphrasis of the picture. An ekphrastic poem can also be about a piece of music, so you will have to find a visual for the music (maybe be a photo of part of the score, the picture of the composer, or the like.)

3) You can also send a poem & picture where the poem is not an ekphrasis of the picture or image: you just chose it to accompany the picture by whatever esthetic connection or relationship. This is similar to no.1 except that you chose the picture, not me.

4) Or, you can send a poem & a picture by another author and artist/photographer with you own critical notes about either or both. It is your obligation, however, to obtain permission from them before submitting to the ezine.

5) You can send a picture only: it must be that interesting as to occupy the place of the frontispiece, the first dominant image that you see in the main or middle column of the blog. Accompany that picture with a brief anecdote of its taking—the why, what, and how, and even some technical information regarding the camera, the retouching done, if any, etc.

6) Or, you can send a series of three to five pictures but you must convince me they are worth exhibiting on the poets’picturebook pages both by esthetic and technical merit, and with interesting history and circumstances.

Restrictions

7) There are no restrictions as to language, subject or style of the poems and pictures except the Internet and Blogging protocols on pornography and any other content offensive to any race, country, religion, ideology.

8) Poems in other languages must be accompanied by an English translation subject to my evaluation and refinement, if necessary.

9) All poems & pictures must be sent electronically by email (this is an ezine, after all).

10) As you can see, the ezine is a very specialized online, cooperative publication. It is a work of love of like-minded creative people. Thus, contributions are not paid in cash. (We simply trade in beauty.)

11) Our frequency is fortnightly or every two weeks
